The Aragó, Amistat, Ayora, and Marítim stations on the Metrovalencia line will be closed from June 25 through August 30, 2026—a total of 67 days—to carry out rehabilitation and renovation work on the infrastructure and superstructure of the tunnel connecting the Alameda and Marítim stations.
The project has a budget of 10 million euros and affects lines 5 and 7.
The work continues the efforts begun last summer on the same section, which is approximately three kilometers long.
The work is being carried out in accordance with the standards required by Law 7/2018 of March 26 on Railway Safety and is being conducted at the request of the Valencian Railway Safety Agency.
How the closure affects the network
During the construction period, the Alameda station will serve as the starting and ending point for metro lines 5 and 7.
Lines 3 and 9 will continue to operate at Alameda without any changes, according to Alfonso Novo, managing director of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV).
Marítim station, although without metro service, will remain open as an access point to tram lines 6 (bound for Tossal del Rei) and 8 (bound for Neptú).
Alternatives for passengers
FGV has coordinated with the Valencia City Council to establish a series of alternative routes to minimize the impact on daily commutes, especially for those heading to the beach during the summer:
- Passengers heading to the beach can transfer at Benimaclet, where lines 5 and 7 connect with tram lines 4 and 6.
- Passengers coming from lines 1 (Bétera) and 2 (Llíria) have the option to transfer at Empalme to tram line 4, heading toward Doctor Lluch.
- The EMT will increase service coverage with stops near the affected stations.
FGV will also increase the presence of customer service staff at the Alameda and Benimaclet stations throughout the closure period.
This project is part of the FGV Action Plan 2026-2030, with a budget of over 830 million euros, aimed at modernizing the infrastructure and facilities of Metrovalencia and the TRAM d’Alacant.
As part of this plan, the renovation of the metro and tram network in Valencia and its metropolitan area has been allocated a specific budget of 275 million euros.
The Catalan government has justified the choice of the summer period as the months with the lowest passenger traffic on the network.
