This weekend, El Mareny de Barraquetes celebrates its 11th Fira Tasta El Mareny, with the potato takingcenter stage. This local community in El Mareny de Barraquetes, part of the municipality of Sueca, will host the eleventh edition of this event from June 26 to 28, which will feature a farmers’ market showcasing one of the region’s most unique products: potatoes grown in the sandy fields along the coast near the Albufera Natural Park.
The choice of this tuber as the fair’s central theme stems from its deeply local character. The unique conditions of the area’s sandy soil give the Mareny potato a texture and flavor that set it apart from any other variety in the region.
Calle de la Iglesia will once again host the vegetable stalls from the Ribera Baixa, along with a selection of artisanal products from the region, throughout the three days of the fair.
Program for the 11th Fira Tasta El Mareny
Friday, June 26, will kick off with the opening of the exhibitor booths at 8:00 p.m. and a performance by the group Four Moons. The evening will continue with a stand-up comedy routine by comedian Óscar Tramoyeres at 10:30 p.m., followed by a karaoke session and a mobile disco to close out the day.
Saturday, June 27, will feature a performance by La Burra de Sueca—a local theater and music group—at 8:00 p.m., followed by another nighttime mobile disco to round out the evening.
Sunday, the 28th, will feature family-oriented programming: at 11:30 a.m., Grup Somriu and Nora la Cantaora will entertain the little ones, alongside children’s workshops led by Colecció Quack Joc.
The concert by Los Xullas, at 8:00 p.m., will bring this year’s festival to a close; the event has also expanded its morning activities to include inflatable pools at the school throughout the three days.
