Did you know that Valencia has more than 50 public fountains that filter and cool drinking water? Since 2020 and with the aim of combating the heat and the production of plastic bottles, the Valencia City Council has progressively installed dozens of these fountains in neighborhoods and districts of Valencia.
From the 3 initially installed in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento and the City of Arts and Sciences, according to the latest update, there are now more than 45 fountains installed throughout the city that serve cold water in the heat wave.
This service was activated at the height of the pandemic, during the summer of 2020, with temperatures above 30 degrees, with the aim of helping the environment by reducing PET bottles and promoting reusable containers in the city.
These fountains also have a “zero contact” system and the bottles are automatically refilled once they are placed under a sensor on the tap.

As detailed by Visit València, these fountains “are equipped with an advanced double filtration and disinfection system using UV light and ozone generation equipment to disinfect the supply nozzle”.
In the following map you can see all the locations of these taps, which extend to districts such as Perellonet.
