La Mesedora, one of the temples of Valencian lunch, will open its first restaurant in Valencia next September in an exclusive location: the new Roig Arena stadium.
This restaurant, Cacau d’Or in 2021 and third best sandwich in Spain in 2024, will transfer its know-how in Algemesí to this new stadium in Valencia.
The brothers Sergio, Jaume and Gerardo Santamaría decided to take over a bar-restaurant located in an industrial estate in Algemesí in 2020 to create one of the benchmarks of Valencian snacks.
Now, while rebuilding their premises severely affected by last October’s dana, they will move their fusion between tradition and innovation to the center of Valencia.
In addition to the Cacau d’Or, La Mesedora has also won the award for the best creative creme brulee or the third prize in the Best Bocata of Spain 2024 contest thanks to its Joselillo sandwich, composed of a base of crushed tomato, caramelized red onion, Algemesí sausage, homemade bacon jam and smoked mayo.
La Mesedora will be accompanied by the already announced Valencian hamburger chain Hundred Burgers in this new catering area and Miguel Martí Gastronomía for the management of most of the catering services of the venue, such as the VIP area and the main restaurant.
The Roig Arena will open its doors in September 2025 and will function as a multi-purpose indoor venue for sports competitions and cultural events such as concerts.
The project has a budget of more than 280 million euros financed by Juan Roig, president of Mercadona, and an estimated maximum capacity of 20,000 spectators in concert mode.
