The Government has announced this morning a first aid package of 10,600 million euros to support all those affected by the DANA, with measures aimed at the reconstruction of homes, support for businesses and the self-employed and assistance to all affected municipalities. As of today, November 5, 2024, it is possible to request the aid, which will focus on three phases: urgent response, reconstruction of damaged areas and adaptation of the territory to future climate emergencies.
The first package announced today includes up to 70,300 euros per affected family to repair homes and replace damaged appliances. Funds have also been earmarked for the self-employed and businesses affected, with aid of up to €5,000 for the self-employed, who will be able to start receiving these funds before the end of this month. In addition, those affected will be able to benefit from tax exemptions on taxes such as IBI and IAE, as well as moratoriums on mortgages and loans.
For its part, the Valencian Community has also launched an aid package. Up to 6,000 euros per affected household and 200,000 euros for urgent expenses of the municipalities.
How and when can the aid be applied for?
From today, Tuesday 5th, according to the President of the Government, it will be possible to start applying for the aid. This Wednesday, the first compensations for loss of vehicle will start to be given.
To apply for the Government aid, those affected must submit their application through the coordination offices set up by the Generalitat, preferably in the town where the affected house is located. They can also be submitted telematically on the Generalitat’s website. The deadline for submitting applications is December 16, 2024.
