The Valencian Community is witnessing a fateful scenario at many levels as a consequence of the Dana. Human losses, devastated homes, damage to material goods and personal effects. Beyond the latter, there are items that, although tangible, have a powerful sentimental value: photographs. In this regard, the University of Valencia (UV) focuses on their recovery and restoration and urges citizens not to part with their photo albums .
Preserve them, even if they are in very poor condition, in order to assess all the possibilities of restoration. A free initiative of the Heritage Department of the University of Valencia that aims to repair family heirlooms.
The Laboratory of Analysis and Diagnosis of Artwork of the university, in the Faculty of Geography and History, will work within the possible on the albums and photographs damaged by flooding.
The UV appeals to those affected to keep albums and photographs in plastic bags. In the same should be identified name, surname and address.
In order for the institution to collect the material, it is necessary to contact the Heritage Department by e-mail (patrimoni.cultural@uv.es or restauracion@upv.es) with the subject Family Albums affected by the DANA or by telephone (686788721).
