The Conseller of Environment, Infrastructures and Territory, Vicente Martínez Mus, has announced this Wednesday in Les Corts that the Consell will extend the free Valencian public transport for young people under 31 years old until June 30 (the measure was in force until January 31) as well as the continuation of the 50% discounts on multi-journey tickets and temporary season tickets, which also expired at the end of the month.
With his intervention in Les Corts, Martínez Mus has confirmed that the Generalitat Valenciana will join the extension of direct aid to the autonomous communities and local entities announced by the central government on December 23rd in the Council of Ministers.
The free travel will continue to benefit about half a million young people and the discounts will be available to all users of the TRAM d’Alacant, TRAM de Castelló, Metrovalencia, Metrobus and buses.
According to data provided by the Generalitat Valenciana, since the beginning of this initiative, around 70 million trips have already been registered.
Current season ticket holders will be able to continue enjoying the benefits without any additional formalities during the first weeks of the extension. However, in the coming months, young people will have to update their cards to continue to benefit from the free travel.
Young people who do not yet have the season ticket can easily apply for it through the website of the Metropolitan Transport Authority of Valencia, Metrovalencia or TRAM d’Alacant, by accessing the appointment section.
This measure is in addition to the free passes for Cercanías, Rodalies, conventional Media Distancia and state bus lines during the first half of 2025 announced by the central government, through the same system that has been used until now. To ensure their free travel, users must have made at least 16 trips in the case of the four-monthly season ticket and upon payment of a refundable deposit of between 10 and 20 euros depending on the season ticket and type of transport chosen.
