The heat and high temperatures arrive and the probability of forest fires increases. The Conselleria de Medio Ambiente, Infraestructuras y Territorio has recalled Monday in a statement that, from June 1 until October 15, will be prohibited the use of fire in forest land and areas within 500 meters of them, as part of the measures to prevent forest fires during the summer period.
These restrictions are framed within the provisions of Decree 91/2023 of the forestry regulation and respond to the increase of temperatures and the risk derived from the drying of the vegetation typical of this time of the year.
The regulations expressly prohibit the burning of agricultural or forestry residues, as well as crop margins, in the areas affected by the restriction.
However, an exception is contemplated: in municipalities with an approved Local Burning Plan, extraordinary burning of agricultural crops may be authorized. These must be carried out in low-risk areas, with pre-emergency level 1, and exclusively until 11:00 a.m., always under regulated conditions and with prior authorization.
Citizens can consult the list of municipalities with Local Burn Plan and obtain more information through the official website of the Conselleria.

The Regional Ministry calls on citizens to enjoy the natural environment “with responsibility and respecting all prevention measures, since we all participate in prevention” during the summer.
