Imagine going back to the past, to the era of the Great Gatsby’s dresses and hats. This is what will happen in Benicàssim on September 6, 7 and 8.
This year marks the 13th edition of this modernist festival, the Benicàssim Belle Époque, where cinema will be the main protagonist. And it is to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the film that made known the beaches of Benicàssim and the famous hotel Voramar: “Novio a la vista” by Luís García Berlanda.
During the days you can see film screenings, such as the film of Berlanga, but also stroll and shop at one of the stalls of the market that will be open all day.
The fair will be held in the Zona de las Vilas, which was built in the early twentieth century and its architecture and modernist decorations allow us to return to the past instantly.
There will also be workshops, musical performances, theater, painting and photography exhibitions and activities for the whole family. You can consult the complete program here..
Benicàssim, cinematographic set
.
It was only 130 years ago that the famous projection of the Lumière brothers arrived in Madrid and, 11 years later, it was projected for the first time in Castellón. Since then everything has evolved very quickly and Benicàssim has attracted several filmmakers who have used its idyllic landscape as a set.
In 1954 Berlanda’s “Novio a la vista” was released and, after him have come other directors such as Icíar Bollaín, Javier Polo or Gerardo Vega, Pablo Granell or Miguel Bardem.
