Valencia has inaugurated this week the Plaza de las Falleras Mayores, a space dedicated to all those women who have held this distinguished position in the fallero world in the city of Valencia.
The new square is located at the confluence of the Paseo de la Alameda and the bridge of l’Assut de l’Or, at the traffic circle between the Aqua shopping center and the Ciutat de les Arts.
The square will serve as a tribute to both those who have been Falleras Mayores and future representatives of the Fallas festival, the city council has detailed in a statement.
The inauguration on Tuesday was attended by the current Falleras Mayores de València, Berta Peiró and Lucía García, accompanied by their respective courts of honor.
Also, a large representation of Falleras Mayores in the history of Valencia was present, as is the case of Maria de los Llanos, Fallera Mayor of 1966, and Encarnacion Selva, Fallera Mayor Infantil of 1951.
The Band of the Benimaclet Instructive Society put the musical note to the event playing the pasodobles “Valencia” and “El Fallero”.
Of course, the inauguration closed with a fireworks display.
