Last night, the falleros and falleras received the news about who will be the Falleras Mayores of Valencia in 2027. Beatriz Blanco Tamarit, from the Falla Castelló-Segorbe, and Julia Vizcayno Orero, from the Falla Rosari-Plaça Calabuig, will be the Fallera Mayor and Fallera Mayor Infantil, respectively, during next year’s festivities.
Valencia Mayor María José Catalá was responsible for officially and personally announcing the news to the winners via the traditional phone call, this year using a new replica phone modeled after the classics from the early 20th century.
The proclamation will take place today, Wednesday, October 14, starting at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal chamber of Valencia City Hall. Both women and their respective courts of honor will attend the event, dressed in traditional Valencian attire, though they will not yet be wearing the espolín they will don on the day of the coronation. They will also be accompanied by the Falleras Mayores for 2026, Carmen Prades and Marta Mercader, as well as representatives from other festivals in the Valencian Community, such as the “belleses del foc” from Alicante and the queens of the Castelló festivities.
Who are the Falleras Mayores of Valencia 2027?
Beatriz Blanco is 24 years old, holds a degree in Industrial Organization Engineering, and works as an engineer at a service company. A Fallera since birth, she said she is fulfilling “her lifelong dream” and becomes the second member of her commission to be named Fallera Mayor of Valencia (43 years after the last one, María José Ariza in 1984). A lover of crochet, ceramics, and reading, she is also a fan of traditional dance and actively participates in the Dansà a la Mare de Déu.
The 2027 Fallera Mayor Infantil, Julia Vizcayno, is 9 years old and is in fifth grade at the Cambridge House British International School. A member of the Rosari-Plaça Calabuig commission since birth, she becomes the first person from her falla to hold the title of top child representative. She loves the Fallas festival and Valencian traditions, but also sports and music: she plays soccer on the Marítim women’s team, practices Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and plays the piano.
