This Sunday, February 22, Valencia will once again shout “Ja estem en Falles!” (The Fallas are here!). The city will kick off the official start of the 2026 Fallas with the Crida as the main event of the weekend.
Although the main event is reserved for the afternoon at the Torres de Serranos, the activity will begin much earlier with a macrodespertà and mascletá in Valencia’s Town Hall Square.

The day will begin at 6:30 a.m. with a prayer to Santa Bárbara in the church of San Juan del Hospital.
At 7:30 a.m., the macrodespertà will begin, organized by the Corona falla, in which thousands of fallers will walk through the streets of the city center throwing the classic “tró de bac” supplied by Pirotecnia Alto Palancia. The little ones will have their own moment in the spotlight with the Children’s despertà at 7:00 a.m.
At around 8:00 a.m., Pirotècnia Valenciana will set off a final apotheosis called “El retorn de la llum”(The Return of Light), followed by a powerful earthquake and the traditional fallero breakfast.

Before lunch, the musical societies will set the pace with the Entrada de Bandas (Entrance of the Bands) at 12:00 p.m.
At 2:00 p.m., the Town Hall square will host a mascletá entitled “Melodia del Turia” (Melody of the Turia), performed by Pirotècnia Valenciana.
Fók, the Crida show
The prelude to the official speeches will be entitled “[fók],” a show with a 100% Valencian stamp designed to exalt fire as an identifying element of the festival.
The production brings together a first-rate cast led by choreographer Álvaro Cuenca and singer Lorena Calero, with musical direction by Kike Soriano and artistic vision by designer Betto García.
With narration by journalist Sergi Olcina, this stage production seeks to serve as a blank canvas that highlights the value of artisan crafts and sets the stage for the words of the Falleras Mayores.
In terms of pyrotechnics, the event will mark a historic milestone thanks to Caballer FX Global Foc. María José Lora Zamorano will become the first woman in charge of firing the Crida, taking up the baton from her grandmother, a pioneer in the 1950s.
The fireworks will be set off from the Serranos Bridge.
