La Ciutat del Foc is ready to celebrate, once again, one of the most unique—yet at the same time most representative — festivities of Valencian identity. In less than a week, Paterna will kick off its Fiestas Mayores with a program packed with events and activities for people of all ages.
This year’s slogan, “Foc, festa i fe,” captures the essence of a festival that has been designated a Festival of National Tourist Interest and an Asset of Cultural Interest, particularly for its two most popular events: La Cordà, the quintessential fire festival, and the Moors and Christians celebration.
These will be magical days for all the residents of Paterna, who, in addition to experiencing the festivities through tradition, will enjoy free concerts and orchestral performances. Omar Montes will headline this year’s main performance, and renowned orchestras such as Panorama and Montecarlo round out the musical lineup.
The program will begin on Wednesday, August 19, with the presentation of medals by the Royal Brotherhood of the Holy Christ of Faith and Saint Vincent Ferrer, but it will be on Thursday, August 20, when Leticia Sabater delivers the opening address.
Although the festivities won’t end until Tuesday, September 1, the highlight— La Cordà de Paterna—will take place on Sunday, August 30, at 1:30 a.m. Below, we’ve included the full schedule so you don’t miss a thing at one of the best festivals in the entire Valencian Community.
