From March 15 to 19, the Xàtiva and Colón metro stations will be closed to the public from 12:30 to 14:30 hours, for security reasons.
This measure, usual in the hours prior to the firing of the mascletás in the Town Hall Square of Valencia, has been taken from the Generalitat Valenciana following the recommendations of the Local Board of Citizen Security.
The closure of these stations aims to avoid crowds due to the large influx of people expected in the city during the central days of the festival.
In both cases, trains will not stop at these stations during the established schedule.
Recommended alternative stations
Metrovalencia has indicated that users may use the following stations as alternatives during the closure of Xàtiva and Colón:
- Lines 1, 2 and 7: Plaça Espanya.
- Line 9 (Riba-roja de Túria – La Cova): Aeroport.
- Lines 3, 5 and 9 common (Roses – Av. del Cid): Àngel Guimerà (Palleter exit).
- Line 3 (Rafelbunyol – Almàssera), common lines 3 and 9 (Alboraia Peris Aragó – Facultats), and common lines 5 and 7 (Marítim – Aragó): Alameda.
Metrovalencia has also warned that, in case the mascletás are suspended, Xàtiva and Colón stations will remain operative during the regular schedule.
In addition, the regular metro service will be reinforced from Friday March 14 with 24 hours of uninterrupted service until after the Cremá on March 19.
