Christmas lights in Valencia will be turned on earlier than last year and will have a larger budget, almost 200,000 euros more. The City Council of Valencia has announced this Wednesday the Christmas lighting device that will be launched in the coming weeks and that will significantly increase the lighting in neighborhoods and streets of Valencia.
In total, this year the consistory will allocate more than 615,000 euros for Christmas lighting and decoration of the city, representing an increase of over 45% over 2022.
The ornamental lighting during the upcoming Christmas holidays will be brought forward this year to December 1 and will be carried out according to sustainability criteria.
A new Christmas tree on the Town Hall Square
The Town Hall Square will feature a new Christmas tree, which will imitate a natural tree, 20 meters high, decorated with balls and gift boxes, as well as lights and Christmas music.
As a novelty, a luminous Bethlehem star of the Three Wise Men will be installed on the esplanade of the Serranos Bridge, in front of the Serranos Towers.
In addition, 20 luminous “Bon Nadal” signs will be placed in different locations, including the districts of Valencia, as well as a total of 19 Christmas trees in as many districts of the city.
Christmas ornamentation will also reach all municipal markets, and for the first time 71,000 euros will be allocated to the illumination of municipal markets. In the rest of the streets, this year a total of 225 luminous arches will be installed in 40 streets of the city.
Finally, Valencia’ s monumental lampposts will be decorated around the second beltway of the city, bringing the Christmas atmosphere to the Grandes Vías del Marqués del Turia, as well as to other neuralgic points such as the intersection of Antiguo Reino with Germanías, Ramón y Cajal, Fernando el Católico, Paseo de la Petxina, Pintor López street, Plaza de Tetuán, Plaza de América and Jacinto Benavente.
The nativity scene returns to the Town Hall Square.
Also, three nativity scenes will be installed. The first one will be in the Plaza de la Reina, the second one inside the Consistory and the nativity scene in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento is back.
8 years after the last one, the traditional Nativity of Kings returns to the Town Hall Square with figures of the falleros artists José Luis Ceballos and Francisco Sanabria.
