Valencia will host the València Trinidad Alfonso Zurich Marathon this Sunday, December 7, and the Rastro will have to move its date. The City Council of Valencia has agreed that, in order not to coincide with the athletics event, the market will be moved forward one day, moving to Saturday, December 6.
Usually, the València flea market is held on Sundays and holidays in its dedicated space on Tarongers Avenue , on the corner of Lluís Peixó Street.
However, the route of the marathon, which crosses the main avenues and ends at the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències, makes it incompatible to keep the event on Sunday.
The change of date approved by the local government aims to avoid traffic chaos, cause the least damage to vendors and allow the shopping day to pass normally without interfering with the sporting event.
The schedule will remain as usual, from 09:00 to 14:00 hours.
Keep this in mind if going treasure hunting at the flea market is one of your plans for this long weekend in Valencia.
