Valencia will smell of freshly baked bread. Next Thursday, October 16, coinciding with the World Day of Bread, the Marina of Valencia will host the II Artisan Bread Fair, organized by the Guild of Bakers and Confectioners of Valencia.
The Plaza de l’Aigua will have a large tent from 10:00 to 14:00 hours to highlight the value of bread and especially the pataqueta. There will be an exhibition and tasting of artisan and traditional Valencian bread in its different varieties and formats, made by Valencian master bakers of the Guild.
In addition, during the morning there will be a talk and Valencian lunch made with pataqueta, the traditional Valencian bread, with sandwiches with typical ingredients from the Valencian orchard. Juanjo Rausell, president of the Guild of Bakers and Confectioners of Valencia, Eva Davó, owner of La Cantina de Ruzafa and Paco Alonso, food journalist, will participate.
The day will culminate with the live broadcast of the podcast, in a humorous tone, Disfrutons, by Jajajers, the comic couple with more followers of the Valencian Community.
They will talk about the history and tradition of Valencian bread and sweets, the role of bakeries as social epicenters of the neighborhoods and the constant battle of the artisan sector against industrial bread and rising costs.
