Reducing cheese to the category of food falls far short of explaining what this product has meant for humanity. Cheese has been (and is) revered by virtually every culture in the world that has had access to it, and today there are scientific studies that demonstrate its ability to bring pleasure, well-being, and calm to those who consume it.
Proof that the number of people who call themselves cheese “lovers” and seek to try every possible variety and type is neither a coincidence nor a matter of luck. A group of people who are in for a treat this week, as the Cheese Festival returns to Valencia for another year.
From Friday, August 28, through Monday, August 31, dozens of producers from different parts of the country—and even from neighboring countries like France—will gather to present their own creations to the Valencian public. Admission is completely free, and once inside, visitors can taste and purchase more than 200 different artisanal cheeses.
The selection is almost endless: aged, semi-aged, soft, fresh, blue, smoked, flavored, creamy, made from goat’s, cow’s, or sheep’s milk, or a blend… it’s impossible to list all the options available at Mas Masiá, the event venue chosen for this edition, located right in the heart of the city at Plaza de la Mercé, 3.
Tastings and live music
During the four days of the event, visitors can enjoy free tastings and, of course, pair them with wines, jams, breads, olive oils, beers, or other combinations of their choice.
Plus, if you visit the different booths representing each region and purchase their products, you can complete the Cheese Passport and enter a drawing for exclusive prizes.
This event will feature live music and DJs who will make the experience even more dynamic and fun.
