Did you know that the province of Valencia is home to the largest monumental nativity scene in Spain? Every December the Albereda de Xàtiva changes its appearance to host a major tourist attraction such as the traditional nativity scene.
The Nativity Scene, which occupies 1,600 square meters, is characterized by taking care of every detail since 1999. And there is not only a manger, here are recreated numerous scenes with life-size figures made by artists falleros.
In addition, real elements are used for decoration such as fruits and vegetables or live animals such as ducks, geese, bulls, sheep, donkeys or turkeys (always under strict veterinary control and respecting animal welfare).
All kinds of materials and utensils are also used in the assembly of this nativity scene through donations from neighbors or from the town council of Xàtiva.
Although it can be visited during the central hours of the day, the nativity scene of Xàtiva acquires a higher dimension with the arrival of the night. It has a lighting designed exclusively for such a large monument and that helps to appreciate the Christmas details.
Do you want to come and see it? You will find it in the Albereda Jaume I of Xàtiva from December 5 to January 7. Visiting hours are from 10:00 to 22:00 hours and you can access for free.
This Christmas, if you can not travel in person to Xàtiva, you can live the experience from home, because on the official website of the crib, they have created a virtual map with which you can go through all the details.
