After the destruction caused by the passage of the DANA through Valencia, thousands of people have volunteered to help those most affected by this meteorological catastrophe.
Coordinating all these people is a very difficult task. For this reason, two platforms have arisen to coordinate volunteers and those requesting help on a real level. In this way, those who want to collaborate, can make a good distribution of their work to make it more effective and have a real impact.
Here we tell you how they work so that you can participate as a volunteer for the DANA in Valencia.
Help Dana
The platform ajudadana.es organizes hundreds of volunteers every day. To avoid that certain areas are saturated and others are deserted, they have a tool called voluntometro. In this way, before going to volunteer, we can calculate the state of need in each municipality and thus know where to go. For example, today, November 6, there are 148 volunteers in Catarroja and only 14 applicants for help. On the other hand, as the same website indicates, volunteers are needed in Godelleta, where there are only 2.
Thanks to Ajuda Dana we can offer our support from a logistic, medical and psychological point of view , and we can even offer temporary accommodation to those people who have been left homeless. So, whatever capacity we have, we will always find one way or another to help.
It is also very easy to register as a claimant for assistance. If you need assistance you can indicate to what degree it is immediate, can you wait a few hours or not urgent, and where you need it.
Terreta Help
This web page of volunteers for the DANA in real time works in a similar way to Ajuda Dana, but instead of showing us the municipalities in columns, it does it on a map.
There we can see who has asked for help, although we do not know how many volunteers there are. In order to manage it, when a volunteer is on the way, the map indicates that this point is receiving help. In this way, despite not having a record of volunteers, we can follow in real time the work that is needed at any given moment.
In addition, in Ayuda Terreta you can also see the collection points in the Valencian Community, as well as in other parts of Spain.
