Some time ago we talked about the centenary grocery store in Valencia with sandwiches by weight for 1.50 euros. They were classic sandwiches, those of a lifetime. A concept that now you can also try in a gourmet version (although the businesses have nothing to do with each other) in the neighborhood of Carmen.
Ultramarinos de l’Embutic has become a little secret in the center of Valencia, where there is no rigid menu and each creation is made on the spot.
What are Ultramarinos de l’Embutic’s sandwiches like?

The price depends on the ingredients you choose, and your hunger. From 3.50 to 15 euros, you can enjoy a generous sandwich without breaking the wallet.
The place combines the grocer’s tradition with culinary creativity: in its display cases you can see truffled mortadella, pastrami, Iberian ham, bresaola ( Italian sausage) and other select products that are then transformed into sandwiches to the customer’s taste.
There are also predefined options, such as the sobrasada sandwich with cured cheese and forqueta, or Serrano ham, ricotta, dried tomato and pesto. But the real fun is in customizing your creation, for example with a base of EVOO, burrata, pastrami and pistachio sauce.
In addition to the sandwiches, Ultramarinos de l’Embutic sells a selection of gourmet products, wines and preserves from small local producers.
Customers can take their sandwich with them or savor their creation at one of the tables and in the adjacent wine cellar.
The grocery store is open daily from 10:00 to 22:00, and is located at Comèdies, 1.
