El Niño Llorón we don’t know if it’s because hungry children used to come in here and leave with a chorizo sandwich filled to the brim for 2 duros, but in the middle of 2025 it offers a trip back to childhood with its particular pricing policy.
It is one of the best known grocery stores in Valencia that still preserves a curious custom. Recently, Joan Ruiz of @esmorzaret published a video on his Instagram profile where he explained the dynamics of the sandwiches of El Niño Llorón, which are priced by weight depending on the ingredients, which one can choose depending on the available genre in their showcases.
In the video in question, a chorizo sandwich for 1.50 euros seems an unbeatable offer for any bar in the area. But it could also have been ham, cheese, mortadella or any other type of cold meat.
Inside it also abounds with its own selection of vegetables, wines, preserves and products from small local producers.
It is in the heart of Ruzafa, and remains as one of the few centenary businesses that still remain in this area of Valencia.
In a report by Valencia en Blanco y Negro, it is detailed that this store is not in fact natural to the neighborhood. If you take into account its founding and subsequent relocation, El Niño Llorón has 120 years of history. Before moving to Ruzafa it was established in the Central Market area, where they also sold coffees.
You will find it at number 58 Russafa Street in Valencia.
