The church of the Jesuits in Valencia has become, for a few months, the stage for a multisensory spectacle of light and sound that represents the first seven days of the creation of the Earth. We are talking about Genesis, a video mapping experience created by the artist collective PROJEKTIL. After accumulating several sold outs during its stay in Valencia, in 2025 it will definitely close its doors: there will be sessions until January 11, so if you have not yet gone this is your last chance to get your tickets.
Genesis has made a stop in Valencia after passing through other Spanish cities like Madrid, Barcelona or Bilbao, as well as international cities like Turin, Milan or Boston. This experience, created by PROJECKTIL, a multidisciplinary artistic collective based in Zurich, composed of designers, visual artists, musicians and programmers, has been very well received everywhere.
This group specializes in creating high-tech immersive experiences, using video mapping and light projections that interact with the architecture of the spaces. In shows such as Genesis, PROJEKTIL combines art and technology to generate stunning atmospheres for all audiences.
What is Genesis in Valencia like?
As its name suggests, Genesis reimagines how it would be the origin, the beginning of everything. During the 30-minute show, and without moving from a comfortable bench or pouf, spectators are transported on a journey through the key moments of creation: the appearance of light in the darkness, the creation of the oceans, vegetation and, finally, the human being.
This event is unique in each city, as the show is adapted to the architecture and characteristics of the spaces where it is presented. For this, PROJEKTIL does a thorough pre-planning work in each new city that visits the experience.
The Jesuit Church in Valencia
The Jesuit Church of Valencia, also known as the Church of the Sacred Heart, is located in the heart of the city, near the old Turia riverbed.
This temple, with its imposing neo-Byzantine style, plays a key role, as the projections are perfectly integrated with the design of the building, which adds symbolic value to the immersive experience.
