Valencia is facing another day of extreme heat, with particular concern over possible heat waves and dry thunderstorms. The weather conditions have forced various institutions in the Valencian Community to take last-minute measures to ensure safety in different parts of the region.
Prohibitions and measures adopted for today, Wednesday, July 15
- All outdoor school activities in the city of Valenciahave been suspended . They must be moved indoors.
- All outdoor sports activities organized by the Municipal Sports Foundation have been suspended. This includes those taking place on the beaches.
- All Viveros concerts scheduled for todayhave been canceled .
- All weather shelters in the citywill remain open until 9:00 p.m.
- All senior centers will remain open until 9:00 p.m.
- The Social Emergency Response Centers ( CAES) in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Benimaclet, and El Carmenhave been opened .
- Gulliver Park is closed. The possible closure of other parks and gardens is subject to wind alerts issued by the AEMET.
- Access to forested areas is prohibited, particularly the Devesa de El Saler, where water cannons have been activated due to the risk of a possible fire.
- Municipal swimming pools will remain open until 9:00 p.m.
- Municipal cemeteries are closed.
- The following activities of the July Fair have been postponed: The children’s show “Don Bártulos” in the Jardines del Palacio Sur on the 16th at 8:00 p.m., the children’s musical “Mary Poppins” in the Plaza del Mercado Central on the 20th at 7:00 p.m., and the performance by Javi Vila and José Andrés in the Plaza del Mercado Central on the 20th at 9:30 p.m.
- The following activities at the July Fair have been canceled: the Playback Champions Final at the Palacio Norte, the senior citizens’ dance at the Palau Gardens, and the boat tours of the Albufera.
- The street markets in El Grao, Benimàmet, and Avenida del Cid will close early at 12:30 p.m. The market on the Paseo Marítimo will close at 1:00 p.m.
- Closure of the Casal d’Esplai in El Saler.
The 112 Emergency Coordination Center and other institutions have reminded the public that, during periods of extreme heat, it is advisable to minimize sun exposure, stay hydrated, and pay special attention to the most vulnerable people and pets.
