For the moment the Prado is not moving to Valencia, but it will move momentarily and itinerantly through the Valencian Community. And is that from September 27 the collection “The Prado in the Streets” will be installed in Benidorm and will be touring other Valencian cities.
This exhibition shows real-size reproductions of 50 of the most important works of the Prado Museum with the aim of raising awareness of the collections of the museum and its historical heritage free of charge.
Thanks to this, visitors will be able to see first-hand paintings by Spanish authors such as Goya and Velázquez, but also by other great artists of the Western tradition such as Rembrandt, Titian or Caravaggio.
In addition, the works will have explanatory posters, QR codes and information panels so that all users can easily access information about what they are seeing and learn more about the different artistic schools that make up the Prado’s permanent collection.
Collection tours
The itinerary of the collection “The Prado in the streets” will begin on September 27 in Benidorm, where it will be approximately one month. Then follow the cities of Ontinyent, Castellón, Sagunto and Alicante.
Valencia city will not arrive until 2025 and after the month that the collection is more or less in each city, will continue to Vinaròs, Orihuela and end in Borriana in July 2025.
This initiative began in 2020 in the Community of Castilla y León and then continued to Extremadura and Andalusia, where it had a large number of visitors.
