It’s called Monocromo, has just opened in Valencia and is the first photo studio without a photographer. The paradox of this space, designed for intimate and autonomous sessions, allows users to take their own photographs in front of a mirror, using a remote control without the need to manipulate the camera.
In each session – lasting 45 minutes – the individual or group enters a private room where a professional camera, hidden behind a mirror, captures images at the touch of a button. Each photo appears instantly on a screen, allowing posture, expression or costume adjustments to be made on the fly.
All images are automatically edited in black and white and delivered in digital format within 24 hours. The number of final photos depends exclusively on the user’s pace: all the images taken during the session are received.
The price of this experience is between 60 and 70 euros depending on the day of the week.
How is the photo session and for how many people?

The photo shoot is designed for a black and white format. It seeks to focus on the expression, emotions and presence of the person portrayed, eliminating visual distractions. According to the studio, this approach results in more timeless and emotionally charged images.
The studio is designed to create a comfortable, uninterrupted environment. During the session, there is no staff present or other people observing, which makes for a relaxed and creative experience. Portraits can be taken individually, as a couple, as a family or with friends.
The space can accommodate up to 4 people at no additional cost. If the group is larger, a supplement of 10 euros applies for each extra participant (up to a maximum of 10 people per session). Pets are also allowed to attend.
On its website, the studio recommends creating a playlist with your own music to set the mood in the room, bringing several outfits to change your look during the session, looking for visual references or poses for inspiration; and bringing clean or spare footwear, as the background can easily get dirty with street shoes.
The Monocromo space is open from Monday to Sunday at 40 Benicarló Street.
