The Palau de les Arts will host next Sunday, September 15 its 17th open day with educational workshops, lyrical recitals, a symphony concert and free guided tours of the different rooms and spaces of Calatrava’s iconic building.
Throughout the day, from 11 am to 6 pm, the public can visit spaces such as the Main Hall, the Auditori and the Espai Los Toros, and learn about the various proposals of the 2024-2025 Season and its protagonists through audiovisual projections.
With the success of the previous edition in mind, this day includes activities designed especially for family audiences. In the lobby of the Main Hall and the stage of the Aula Magistral, pianos will be available for any visitor to experience their artistic moment.
In the Espai Los Toros, on the twelfth floor, two didactic workshops will be held by the technical team and the education department of Les Arts. The VestuArts workshop (at 11:00 and 16:00) and the CaracterizaT workshop (at 12:30 and 17:30) will allow children, and the adults accompanying them, to discover the process of creating opera characters through costumes and characterization.
The day’s musical program will begin at the Teatre Martín i Soler with two recitals, at 12:00 and 17:00, presented by the new class of singers and pianists from the Centre de Perfeccionament. The repertoire will include opera pieces and lyrical songs.
The day will conclude with a symphonic concert by the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana, conducted by the American maestro James Gaffigan. This concert, which will mark the end of its September tour, will include Beethoven’s “Leonore Overture N˚ 3”, Brahms’ “Third” symphony and Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Capriccio espagnol”.
Tickets for the open house are now available on the theater’s website. Although tickets are free, there will be an administration fee: one euro for the didactic workshops, two euros for the recitals of the Centre de Perfeccionament and three euros for the concert of the OCV in the Auditori.
Les Arts will also have a catering service at various points along the route, where water, soft drinks and snacks will be available throughout the day.
