Valencia’s Town Hall Square is changing its aesthetic to improve its image and align with the style of major European capitals. The new project will require commercial establishments to adapt their signs, posters, and furnishings to a design style that seeks to restore the classic and monumental atmosphere of the city center.
This project is intended as one of the first steps toward the future redevelopment plan for the plaza and will entail numerous changes for local businesses. As a result, advertising and dynamic digital displays that might disrupt the aesthetic harmony will be prohibited.
Bars and restaurants in the area must comply with standardized color guidelines: chairs and tables must be wrought-iron gray or graphite black, while textile elements such as awnings or umbrellas must be square, without a valance, and in off-white or ecru.
Stores will also have to change their storefronts and signs, using materials and colors that match the tone and aesthetic of the rest of the plaza.
