The Regional Minister of Environment, Infrastructure and Territory, Vicente Martínez Mus, has announced that the Paiporta-Castelló section of Metrovalencia will be back in service before the summer. This reopening will mean the total recovery of the network after the serious floods suffered last October.
He made the announcement during a test run between Safranar and València Sud stations, on the occasion of the future commissioning of València Sud station, which will reopen on February 18.
Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) has awarded 38 emergency contracts for a total of 113 million euros to repair the affected infrastructures.
In addition, 11 million euros have been earmarked for the replacement of railway safety systems on the Sant Isidre-Torrent section and more than 23 million for the reconstruction of the València Sud complex, which includes offices, workshops and the Command Post.
After the opening of València Sud, Metrovalencia will have 127 operational stations, pending the addition of the 20 stations of the Paiporta-Castelló section.
