The Poblats Marítims district of Valencia is getting ready to celebrate Semana Santa Marinera, a festival in which more than 30 groups participate in processions through the streets of Valencia. This year, the festival will take place between April 11 and 20.
The Semana Santa Marinera is one of the most important festivities in the Cabanyal-Canyamelar neighborhood and was declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest in 2011.

Palm Sunday
Semana Santa Marinera begins with the traditional Procession of the Palms, with the blessing in the Plaza de Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles.

Maundy Thursday
During Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, two central acts of the Semana Santa Marinera will also take place. La Nit de les Capelles is a tradition in which the houses that house the images are visited during the night of Maundy Thursday.

Good Friday
On Friday, the Christs are taken to the beach in an emotional and symbolic procession that is unique in Spain.
In the afternoon, the solemn Procession of the Holy Burial goes through the maritime neighborhoods, gathering hundreds of people in an emotional act of respect and tradition.

Easter Sunday
The closing of the Semana Santa Marinera. The most impressive event is the Easter Sunday procession, which is full of color, music and a great festive atmosphere. But before that day, there will be parades, offerings and more processions through the Grau, Cabanyal and Canyamelar neighborhoods.
