The Centro del Carmen Contemporary Culture (CCCC) presents the new exhibition “34 Illustrious Sculptors x 34 Illustrators, ” a journey through the history of Valencian sculpture from the late 19th century to the present day. Admission is free for all museum activities, and hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The exhibition will be open to the public through September 13.
An exhibition that seeks to reflect the evolution and trajectory of contemporary Valencian sculpture by paying tribute to the most prominent sculptors of the past century. Mariano Benlliure, Ángeles Marco, Joan Cardells, Enric Mestre, and Helena Sorolla are just a few of the 34 featured artists.
The artists chosen for this project are also leading figures in today’s Valencian illustration scene: Cristina Durán ( National Comic Award winner), Sergio Meliá ( illustrator for Marvel and DC Comics), and Leviathan (cover designer for acts such as the Rolling Stones) are among those responsible for creating this gallery. Among the selected illustrators are artists from disciplines as diverse as tattoo art, music, and fashion.
“34 Illustrious Sculptors x 34 Enlightened Figures” seeks to reflect the journey of Valencian sculpture throughout the 20th century, from traditional academic models to the arrival of the experimental avant-garde, highlighting the role of women sculptors and bringing to light the work of artists who have been marginalized due to their gender.
