Valencia will go to the beach this weekend to collect cigarette butts. On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, the Surfrider organization will collect cigarette butts with dozens of volunteers on the Malvarrosa beach in Valencia this Saturday, June 1st.
Scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, the collection of cigarette butts will be repeated at the same time in the following places a dozen cities in Spain with the aim of making visible and raising awareness about the harmful use of tobacco, both for health and the environment.
After an initial presentation and handing out of material, the big collection is scheduled to begin at 11 am. Registration is voluntary and free of charge through the organization’s website are now open.
It is estimated that 540 cigarette butts will be collected per 1.5 liter bottle. At the end of the march, around 12:00 noon, the participants will regroup to calculate the final data before the end of the day.
