
This Thursday, May 29th, Valencia will take to the streets in the first general strike called on the occasion of the dana of October 29th, 2024. Both the Municipal Transport Company (EMT) of Valencia and Metrovalencia will operate with 80% of minimum services.
The general strike has been called by the trade unions Intersindical Valenciana, CGT, CNT and COS.
The protest, which will run from 00:00 to 23:59 hours, will affect various labor and civil service activities in the Valencian Community, including public transport, health and education.

Why is a general strike called this 29M in Valencia?
The general strike has been called in protest against the governmental management of the dana of last October 29, 2024, which caused 228 deaths.
The unions and part of the public demand political responsibility, justice, and a dignified future for the thousands of people affected by the tragedy.
They are also demanding improvements in public services and greater protection of labor and basic rights such as housing.
In addition to the strike, a large march has been scheduled in Valencia, the seventh since the October 29th earthquake. It will begin at 7:00 pm from the Plaza del Ayuntamiento and will go through central streets such as Barcas, Poeta Querol, Calle de la Paz, Plaza de la Reina, Calle Brodadors and Calle Micalet, ending at Plaza de la Mare de Déu.
Before, at 12 noon, a march called by trade unions will depart from Xàtiva street through the streets of downtown Valencia in the direction of Peace Street and Plaza de la Virgen.
