The Filmoteca d’Estiu 2024 will return from August 2 to 31 to the gardens of the Palau de la Música in Valencia with screenings that will include films that won awards at the last edition of the Oscar Awards, such as Oppenheimer or Anatomy of a Fall.
The Filmoteca d’Esti u 2024 will open on Friday, August 2 at 10:30 p.m. with the screening of ‘Young Frankenstein’, directed by Mel Brooks. This iconic spoof of classic horror films, starring Gene Wilder, will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its premiere and can also be seen on August 3 and 4.
In total, the 2024 Filmoteca d’Estiu will offer a total of 26 screenings distributed among 12 films, organized in three thematic cycles: “Assayas Universe”, “Harvest of Awards’ and “Cinephile Anniversaries”.
Assayas Universe’ Cycle
Dedicated to acclaimed French filmmaker Olivier Assayas, this cycle presents four of his films in chronological order:

- Irma Vep (1996) – August 8 and 9.

- Summer Hours (2008) – August 15 and 16.

- Trip to Sils Maria (2014) – August 22 and 23.

- Personal Shopper (2016) – August 29, 30 and 31.
The screenings of ‘Irma Vep’ and ‘Las horas del verano’ will be in original version with subtitles in Valencian. This cycle will continue in September at the Rialto building of the Filmoteca Valenciana.
Harvest of Prizes’ Cycle
This series will present some of the most awarded films of the last year:

- Kepler Sexto B (2023) – August 5 and 6, presented by producers Lina Badenes and Ana Camacho of Turanga Films.

- As long as it’s you (2023) – August 12 and 13.

- Robot Dreams (2023) – August 17 and 18.

- Oppenheimer (2023) – August 24 and 25.

- Anatomy of a Fall (2023) – August 26 and 27, in original version with subtitles in Valencian.
Cinephile Anniversaries’ Cycle
In addition to Young Frankenstein, this season will commemorate important film anniversaries:

- Stop Making Sense (1984) – August 10 and 11.

- The Last (1924) – August 19 and 20.
Screenings will be held from Monday to Sunday, except Wednesdays, at 10:30 pm. The box office will open at 9:30 pm. General admission tickets are priced at 3.50 euros, and a ten-session pass is available for 25 euros. The complete Program and advance ticket sales are available at the iVC website.
In addition, for the fifth consecutive year, each session of the Filmoteca d’Estiu will begin with a montage of summer home movies, digitized and preserved in the film archive of Paterna.
