The Fundación Bancaja will host from October “Sorolla. Masterpieces from the Sorolla Museum”, an unpublished exhibition with 60 works, 59 of them imported from the painter’s museum in Madrid, which will have to find a safe place while the remodeling works of the space last.
For 5 months the Valencian public will be able to see closely iconic pieces such as “Paseo a la orilla del mar” or “El baño del caballo”.
Only until February 8, 2026, the Bancaja Foundation will become the temporary home of these 59 works by Joaquín Sorolla.
The exhibition, produced by the Bancaja Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and the Sorolla Museum, promises to be one of the most important exhibitions of the year.

Many of these masterpieces had not previously been exhibited in the numerous exhibitions that the Bancaja Foundation has dedicated to the artist.
The exhibition route will also dialogue with a key piece from the Bancaja Foundation’s own collection, the canvas “¡Triste herencia!”, with which Sorolla won the Grand Prix at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1900.
Curated by Enrique Varela, director of the Sorolla Museum, the exhibition is divided into several sections that will allow visitors to retrace the life and artistic evolution of the painter. From his early years of training in Valencia and Italy, through his mastery of the family portrait, his representation of the sea and gardens, to his plastic chronicle of the Spain of his time.
The exhibition can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 to 14:00 hours and from 16:30 to 20:30 hours.
The general admission will cost 9 euros, the reduced price will be 5 euros for pensioners, unemployed, people with disabilities, students from 13 to 26 years old, large families and single parents. Children under 12 will have free admission.
