After the floods caused by the DANA, around 40 Valencian publishing houses were seriously affected. Their premises were destroyed and hundreds of books were lost. The economic losses are estimated to be close to 16 million euros.
Therefore, with the aim of helping the book sector this Christmas, the campaign “With reading we build what we are. With you we rebuild what has been lost”. This is an initiative of CEDRO and the Associació d’Editorials del País Valencià (AEPV) that aims to promote the sale of books during the holiday season from the most affected publishers.
The campaign has created a virtual bookstore, librosdeladana.com, where publishers have chosen 10 of their books that were on sale at the time of the DANA, so that anyone who wants to contribute their bit and help the book sector can buy that title or give it as a gift this Christmas.
In total, there are about 400 books on sale and the campaign will last until the end of January, or until stock is exhausted. In addition, readers are also encouraged to share their readings on social networks under the hastag #LibrosDeLaDANA.
