The placement of the piece that will top Valencia’s municipal falla will be accompanied by a pyromusical show. The event, designed by Pirotecnia Alpujarreña, will be held this Thursday, March 12, at 9:00 p.m. in the Plaza de L’Ajuntament, when a crane will lift the final piece of the monument into place.
The 27-meter-high monument was designed by José Santaeulalia and built by Alejandro Santaeulalia and Vicente Llácer. The show will combine the actual assembly of the piece—the head of a soldier inspired by Charles Chaplin—with light, sound, and pyrotechnic effects.
For the occasion, the company Pirotecnia Alpujarreña has prepared a 40-kilogram fireworks display lasting approximately three and a half minutes.
The soundtrack will be based on the song “March with Me” by Vangelis, performed by Montserrat Caballé. The aim is to create an atmosphere that transforms the scene, with effects that simulate projectiles and give way to an explosion of color with floral motifs.
The Fallas artists explained that the original design already contained a message of hope, but that the current international war context has given it a new dimension. According to them, their intention is for the image of the Fallas to “convey a message of peace and love with a multiplying force.”
The official completion of the monument’s ‘plantà’ will be on the night of March 15.
