In the heart of the Cabanyal neighborhood, Casa Montaña is not just a tavern, it’s a trip back in time. Founded in 1836, this almost bicentennial winery is today the oldest establishment in Valencia.
Located at 69 José Benlliure street, very close to the Malvarrosa beach, it has survived the ups and downs of history to consolidate itself as a gastronomic and enological reference in the city.
The cathedral of wine in Valencia

Its reputation as the city’ s “cathedral of wine” was cemented in 2023, when it was awarded “Best Wine Bar in Spain” at the prestigious International Wine Challenge (IWC) Industry Awards.

A jury of experts, made up of figures such as Master of Wine Pedro Ballesteros and Ferrán Centelles (former El Bulli sommelier), recognized its exceptional cellar with more than 600 references, its training work and its strong support for local and indigenous products.

But the experience at Casa Montaña goes beyond a drink. Its cuisine is a tribute to local produce and seafood tradition. The menu, which adapts to the season, has specialties such as Cantabrian anchovies, its famous patatas bravas de secano, Valencian clóchinas or pepito de titaina, dishes that pair perfectly with its selection of wines.

Its aesthetics, which preserves the tradition of the time with a facade dating from 1880 and an interior where the centenary barrels are the protagonists, gives the place a personality that is not seen in other bars in Valencia. A benchmark adapted to the 21st century.
