What is not in Valencia, is not of category. And if we talk about dance, the ballet companies that have passed through the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, the Teatro Principal or great figures of dance as Nacho Duato prove it. And now the arrival of Ballet of Lights in Valencia, the show that unites the most classical ballet and the most luminous staging to give rise to the inevitable: a fairytale evening.
What is Ballet of Lights?
If you’re thinking of a classical ballet show, yes… but no. Or, at least, not just that. Ballet of Lights is a live dance show where timeless tales like Sleeping Beauty or Cinderella are danced among pirouettes and pliés. And they do it in the most luminous way thanks to the dancers’ costumes, which are covered with countless points of light, filling the stage with pure (real and metaphorical) brightness.
Ballet of Lights Valencia: what story can you see right now?
Lasting approximately 60 minutes and suitable for ages 5 and up, Ballet of Lights has many tales to dance to. Shows that every season are added to the cultural agenda of each city, and now these are the ones we can already experience in Valencia:
Sleeping Beauty
Sleeping Beauty has been sleeping and waking up since the fourteenth century. A French narrative that was followed by a Catalan poem and Charles Perrault‘s version, followed by the one published by the Brothers Grimm and the one by Roinson Planché and Richard Doyle. There is something about Aurora that makes the centuries do not pass through its history and makes it a perfect work to be interpreted between pirouettes and pliés with the unforgettable music of Tchaikovsky.
Ballet of Lights arrives in Valencia with a production that aims to make us fall in love with a luminous staging, impeccable dance and unforgettable stories. Something that we will be able to experience on selected dates at the emblematic Teatre La Plazeta, accessible to wheelchair users and whose doors will open 30 minutes before the start of the show.
