The Ateneo Mercantil de Valencia is like the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid: even if you’ve never been there, you’ve heard of it. And in the case of the Valencian institution, that’s not surprising. An architectural icon, a viewpoint with 360º views of the city, an art gallery featuring great Valencian artists…
And if you’re a fan of Middle Earth, there’s now one more reason to visit the Ateneo: an exclusive Lord of the Rings concert that will take place on three unique dates this March.
Ateneo Mercantil de Valencia: Sorolla, Mascletá, and one of the largest private libraries in the region

Located in the heart of the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, its privileged location makes the Ateneo Mercantil one of the most coveted places to watch the mascletá. And impressive, as its verticality and sobriety make it an architectural icon of the city.
A true cultural institution with a significant pictorial and literary presence: from its extensive art collection (with works by Valencian artists such as Benlliure and ovals painted on the ceiling attributed to Sorolla) to the more than 52,000 volumes that make it one of the most important private libraries in the region. And although it is a private institution that operates with members, many of its activities are open to the public (such as temporary exhibitions or access to the Mirador).
When and at what time will the “Lord of the Rings” concert be held at the Ateneo Mercantil?
And now, among all these activities, there is also an intimate and exclusive Lord of the Rings concert brought to you by Candlelight together with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences. A candlelit event where you can listen to some of the anthems from the soundtrack, such as Gollum’s Song, Into the West, and Amon Hen, performed live by a string quartet.
With two sessions per day, there are three unique dates confirmed: March 1, 21, and 28. Three concert nights are coming to Valencia to mark the 25th anniversary of the “Fellowship of the Ring,” with limited seating.
