Valencia’ s iconic Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències has once again been one of the main locations for the second season of Andor, Lucasfilm’s Emmy®-nominated series.
The complex, designed by architect Santiago Calatrava, has brought its futuristic aesthetic to recreate a part of the Star Wars universe, specifically the upper reaches of the planet Coruscant.

Tony Gilroy, creator and executive producer of the series, describes the choice of the capital of Turia: “Valencia has been incredibly valuable for the series. It’s an amazing setting.
The production team took full advantage of the visual possibilities of the architectural enclave. “Its architecture offers something we can integrate to represent the upper part of Coruscant,” explained executive producer Luke Hull in a statement.
Diego Luna, star of the series, also highlighted in the same statement the value of the verisimilitude offered by filming in real settings such as Valencia: “We want you to understand the moment as if you were there”.
Richard Hill, art director, stressed that the team used “practically every inch” of the Calatrava site in this second season.
The Ciutat de les Arts is, along with the Montserrat mountain range in Barcelona, one of the main settings of this Star Wars series that is already available on the Disney+ platform.
In the first season, the castle of Xàtiva joined the City of Arts and Sciences as the setting for the series.
