Alaquàs is preparing for one of its biggest weekends of the year. Next Friday will see the start of the 9th Festa de la Carxofa, an event that takes on special significance this year under the slogan “El Poble que renaix, la festa que floreix” (The town that is reborn, the festival that flourishes).
On February 6, 7, and 8, the Plaza de la Constitución will host the entire program for this event, from nighttime torràs (barbecues) to a craft and local trade market.

Beyond being a culinary event, the organizers wanted to focus this edition as a symbol of reunion and recovery for the entire region of l’Horta Sud after the recent episodes of the dana. They hope to exceed last year’s figure of 3,000 visitors.
Free paella and the best tapas in the region

This will be one of the highlights of the program, never better said. On Saturday, February 7, starting at 1:30 p.m., a professional jury—made up of chefs such as Chabe Soler from Villa Indiano and food journalists—will judge the Rice Dish Competition, in which various local fallas and guilds will compete.
Immediately afterwards, at 2:00 p.m., 800 free servings of rice with artichokes will be distributed to all attendees.

Sunday will be the turn of miniature creativity with the Tapas Contest starting at 11 a.m. In 2026, attendees will be able to vote for their favorite tapa by scanning a QR code at each stand.
Participants include not only local establishments in Alaquàs such as l’Ateneu and Quarta Torre, but also charitable offerings from neighboring municipalities such as Paiporta (La Bocattina) and Catarroja (Dulces Elsa).

The “torràs” (grilled artichokes) will be held on Friday and Saturday evenings for the popular dinners starting at 7 p.m. with a large outdoor dinner.
Throughout the weekend, the area around Alaquàs Castle will host a craft exhibition and commercial stands, which will open their doors on Friday afternoon. Bolilleres Alaquàs, Patchwork Alaquàs, Ames de Casa d’Alaquàs, and the School of Art will participate in the exhibition.

The market will feature stalls from the Bolilleras Association to fashion, ceramics, and homemade sweets shops, such as l’Hortet, Sueña Bonito, Olga Esteban Escola d’Art, La Senda, Micropigmentación Tatilao, Jara Moda, La Base Rebelde, among others.
During the three days of festivities, music will be provided by groups such as El Tío la Careta, Dani Miquel, Yambú, and La Muixeranga d’Algemesí.
