Valencia, as a city of music, will welcome from this Saturday july 13 to wind music with the inauguration of the International Wind Band Contest “Ciudad de València”.
The event will kick off this Saturday at 8:30 p.m. in the emblematic Town Hall Square. Entitled “Sonar València. Eco-sonic landscape of the city”, with the participation of the group Neopercusión and 350 musicians belonging to nine bands of the Coordinadora de Sociedades Musicales de Valencia.
Under the artistic direction of Juanjo Guillem, the first part of the event will include a deconstruction of the pasodoble “València” by maestro Padilla, while the bands parade from the square’s bocacalles to the main stage. The evening will end with a joint performance with Neopercusión of works by Ishii, Aguirre and Guillem.
The following day, Sunday, July 14 at 11:00 a.m., the Town Hall Square and the Teatro Principal will host the event “Off-Certamen. Symphonic Mascletà”, organized by the Valencian Institute of Culture.
In this activity will participate the youth bands of the societies competing in the Honor Section of the Contest, such as the Ateneu Musical Schola Cantorum de la Vall d’Uixó, the Unió Musical de Llíria, the Centro Instructivo Musical la Armónica de Buñol, the Sociedad Instructiva Unión Musical de Tavernes de la Valldigna and the Sociedad Musical la Artística de Buñol.
During the week, the activities of the contest will include concerts, conferences and round tables in preparation for the competition, which after five years returns to the prestigious Palau de la Música de València.
