The Valencia City Council has officially announced the suspension of the civic procession and the 9 d’Octubre mascletá due to the orange alert for heavy rains.
The decision, taken after the emergency meeting of the Municipal Operational Coordination Center (Cecopal), affects all official events planned outdoors during the festival this Thursday.
The measure, of a preventive nature, involves the cancellation of the two most multitudinous and symbolic events of the Day of the Comunitat Valenciana. The Real Senyera will not go through the streets of the city center in the traditional civic procession, nor will the noon mascletá be fired in the Town Hall Square.
However, the consistory has confirmed that of the shows scheduled for tonight, Wednesday, October 8, only the castle goes ahead.
The celebration of the fireworks display will be held at 22:30 pm. The Generalitat has suspended the drone show scheduled in the City of Arts and Sciences for tonight due to the rain alert.
This decision is aligned with that of other organizations, such as the Moors and Christians, who had already announced the postponement of their parades due to the adverse weather forecast.
In case of changing the alert, the events could be resumed normally.
The Department of Emergencies and Interior, through the Emergency Coordination Center of the Generalitat, has activated the orange level alert for the coast of Valencia and the coast of Alicante to the forecast of heavy rains for the whole day this Thursday, October 9, according to the warnings made by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).
