This March 8, 2025, International Women’s Day, the center of Valencia will receive two main demonstrations organized by different feminist collectives. This year, in addition to the feminist struggle, the demonstrations will have the dana and criticism of the management of the catastrophe as a backdrop.
The first demonstration, called by the Assemblea Feminista, will begin at 16:30 at the Center for Internment of Foreigners (CIE) in Zapadores. The route, with a stop at the Plaza de Sant Agustí at 18:00, where the Jove Muixeranga de València will offer a brief performance, will end at the Plaza de la Mare de Déu around 19:00.
This mobilization will focus its speech on transfeminist and anti-racist demands, in addition to denouncing the institutional management after the dana catastrophe and structural racism.
Two hours later, the demonstration of Moviment Feminista will start. Starting at 18:30 hours from the Plaza Porta de la Mar, the route will advance along Calle Colón, Xàtiva, Marqués de Sotelo, the Plaza del Ayuntamiento and San Vicente, concluding in the Plaza de la Reina.
This march will focus on equal pay, the abolition of prostitution and women’s health rights, in addition to addressing the social and economic effects after the dana.
Traffic cuts for 8M in Valencia
Traffic has reported that within the itineraries of the various demonstrations, will be closed to the passage of vehicles the streets indicated above and that are part of the calls. It has been recommended to citizens to use public transport to get to these points.
