Valencia’s road race circuit returns this Sunday, September 20, after the summer break with one of its longest-running events: the 48th Volta a Peu in Sant Marcel·lí and Sant Isidre, which has been part of the festivals in both neighborhoods since 1977. Registration remains open until Thursday, September 17, although there are already more than 1,000 registered participants.
The race starts at 9:00 a.m., and the five-kilometer course begins on Tres Creus Avenue, next to the General Cemetery parking lot, and winds through the heart of both neighborhoods. The route runs along Doctor Tomàs Sala Avenue, enters Sant Marcel·lí as far as Sant Vicent Màrtir Street, continues along Salvador Perles and Pius IX streets, skirting the soccer field and La Rambleta Park, and returns to the finish line via Sant Domènec de Guzmán, with U-turns at Mariano de Cavia and Campos Crespo.
The EMT will implement a special service starting at 7:00 a.m.: lines 9, 10, 18, 27, 72, 73, and 99 will alter their routes to facilitate access.
In addition to the competitive race, the event includes categories for children under 14 and the non-competitive “At Your Own Pace” category, designed for those who prefer to participate without being timed. Race bibs can be picked up at the Intersport store in the Parc Comercial d’Ademús on Friday, September 18, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and on Saturday, September 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. On race day, they will also be available at the starting area starting 90 minutes before the starting gun.
With this seventh event, the Circuit de Carreres Caixa Popular Ciutat de València enters the home stretch of its 21st edition. Only the Volta a Peu de les Falles, scheduled for October 4, remains to close out the calendar.
