They say that the more fun you have, the faster time flies. And that must be what happened to us Valencians with the Gran Fira de Julio, which wraps up this weekend with two events that drive lovers of fireworks and fire wild: an 800-meter “correfoc” through downtown Valencia and the grand finale featuring the “Rapsodia Estival” fireworks display.
Throughout the rest of the weekend, there will also be other events and activities suitable for all ages. You can view the full schedule by clicking here.
Saturday, July 25: The Night of the Correfoc
On Saturday night, starting at 11:00 p.m., it’s time for the correfoc, during which the Colla de Dimonis de Mislata will entertain us with the street theater show *The Purge* (featuring special effects, pyrotechnics, and live percussion). They’ll be joined by the Colla de Dimonis d’Interpenyes from Paterna, with a show inspired by the tradition of the Ciutat del Foc, featuring fantastic pyrotechnic figures that will culminate in a giant ring of fire.
The grand finale will be the fireworks display by Pirotecnia Zaragozana, lasting five and a half minutes and featuring more than 49 kilograms of gunpowder. The route will begin on Calle de la Pau and end at the Puerta de la Mar, where the final fireworks will be set off.
Sunday, July 26: The Grand Fireworks Finale
As usual, the Plaza del Ayuntamiento will be the venue for the closing of the Gran Fira de Julio, featuring a nearly 10-minute fireworks display that will use almost 180 kilograms of fireworks.
The show, titled “Rapsodia Estival,” will begin at 11:00 p.m. and will be directed by Pirotecnia del Mediterráneo, one of the most renowned pyrotechnics companies in the industry.
