A four-square-meter stall in Valencia’s Central Market has just made history: this past March, it became the highest-priced municipal market stall auction in history.
Bidding started at 600 euros and closed at 48,100, an 80-fold increase over the starting price and setting the highest amount ever recorded in a municipal market auction in the city.

The space, likely intended for fruits and vegetables, was awarded to a merchant who already operates a similar stall in another Valencian market.
The transaction is part of the March round of concessions, in which the City Council awarded 19 stalls, warehouses, and cold storage units spread across six markets: Central, Cabanyal, Castilla, Rojas Clemente, Russafa, and Torrefiel.
Prices for the remaining lots varied widely, ranging from 99.96 euros for a warehouse in Rojas Clemente to 2,050 euros for a storefront in Russafa.
