Choosing where to study abroad is one of the most important decisions a family can make—and also one that raises the most questions: which country, what kind of school, how will the credits be transferred, and what scholarships are available. To address all these questions in one place, Valencia will host “A Year That Transforms” on November 7—the 3rd Schola Idiomas Conference on International Studies and Scholarships—a free event (register here) designed to help young people and families choose a study abroad destination.
Throughout the day, you’ll be able to learn about programs in the United States, Canada, Ireland, and the United Kingdom, speak face-to-face with representatives from international schools, hear from alumni, and get first-hand information about the 10 Schola Scholarships for studying a school year in the United States.
30 years supporting students and families
Behind the event is Schola Idiomas, with over 30 years of experience managing study abroad programs. Its model is based on personalized attention and comprehensive support throughout each experience: the team in Spain works closely with coordinators at the destination to provide a prompt response to any needs of the student and their family.
That same team will be on hand throughout the event to advise each family and help them find the program that best suits their son or daughter, their interests, and their current academic stage.
The 10 Schola Scholarships to Study Abroad for a Year in the United States
The Schola Scholarships consist of 10 scholarships for academic excellence to study for one school year in the United States. They are aimed at students between the ages of 15 and 18 who demonstrate outstanding academic, personal, and motivational qualities. During the event, the Schola team will explain in detail the financial support provided, the requirements, and all the specifics of the program.
In addition, at 12:30 p.m., Francisco Sánchez, CEO of Schola Idiomas, will lead a seminar dedicated entirely to the scholarship program in the United States and the key requirements for the J-1 visa, which allows exchange students to spend a year at an American high school.
Four destinations for a year that changes the way you see the world

Beyond the United States, the event will feature three other countries with very different offerings. Schools from Canada, Ireland, and England will also participate, and their representatives will be on hand to meet with families and students and answer their questions. You’ll be able to compare programs at public and private high schools, with accommodation in host families or dormitories, and learn about schools with specialized sports programs in soccer, basketball, skiing, volleyball, tennis, and rugby, among others.
Schola alumni will share their experiences, lessons learned, and advice: what their first few days were like, life with a host family or at boarding school, and what the year meant to them upon returning home.
