The Centro Municipal de Acogida de Especies Exóticas y Avifauna de Valencia is a center where less common animals can be adopted. Located in Nazareth and in operation since 2010, its operation is focused on the protection and rehabilitation of exotic animals and avifauna in the city.
So far this year, these facilities have received a total of 780 animals, including reptiles, turtles, Vietnamese pigs and various birds, all of them rescued after being abandoned in different parts of the municipality of Valencia.
Of the animals admitted, 337 have found a new opportunity thanks to 106 adoptions, as well as 16 releases into the wild, 4 recoveries by their owners and 211 transfers to other specialized facilities.
The care of these animals is in the hands of a dedicated team composed of 3 veterinarians, 3 caretakers and an assistant, who work to ensure the health and well-being of the animals that arrive at the center.
It is through this center and its professionals that these less common animals can be given a second chance in their homes or be sent to centers specialized in their species. Some of the species can be adopted by private individuals in coordination with a follow-up of the center, while others will remain here as they are illegal, unauthorized species.
